Chapter 2

Shyam Rajaram was a classical example of how hardwork manifests itself as output in the growth of a person. He was someone who had grown up, all by himself, and he knew at every stage of his growth, what exactly he wanted, and how to pick it up, specifically.
As a kid he wanted to fly with the fighter pilots. As he grew up, his fascination for the police grew, and at some stage he knew he wanted to be an IPS. His parents had died early. His mother of an infection after childbirth, and his father soon after, but a bout of tuberculosis. He grew up in the slums, along with other small kids, ever thankful to the few kind-hearted souls who shared the meagre food they could afford, with the hungry little kid. As he grew up, the society tried to exploit him, but Shyam was not one who would fall for it.

He was a brilliant student at school. Topping the state in his class ten board examinations, he went on to work harder to make it to one of the top colleges in the country. He eventually made it to a very prestigious private institution, and was determined to give it a shot. But then, during his selection interview, a serious threat to his seat was posed by his inability to take care of the fees. At this juncture, the bisexual college dean, Mr. Ramlal Choudhury made passes at him. He knew he could have a seat, if he could get along with him for an hour or two. But he, as would any other self respecting human being, was not ready to give up on his sexuality. The sharp Shyam had all of Ramlal's antics recorded on a cellphone video, and got his seat secured. That was probably the last time he ever met Ramlal, or so he hoped.. Probably...
